What age can babies castings be taken?
Castings can be taken from birth upwards.
What if my baby is too wriggly during the casting?
Babies often wriggle! The material only registers the last movement right before it sets, so wriggly fingers and toes are rarely problem. However, if there is any issue with your casts we offer a free-of-charge recast appointment to ensure the final product is perfect for you.
Is the casting material safe?
Yes, absolutely! Our casts are taken using a non-toxic, skin safe material. Its the same material that dentists use to take impressions for dentures!
What happens during the appointment?
An appointment lasts for up to an hour, depending on the amount of casts being taken. Your baby will sit either independently or on your knee, whilst their hand/foot is dipped into the casting material for 2 mins each. You will then choose your frame and colour options, and leave the rest to us!
How long until I get my castings back?
Turn around time is approximately 12 weeks, as the cast need time to fully dry before they can be painted and framed. Please note, this time may be slightly extended during busy periods.
